Most people, if not all, have experienced being ashamed of their physical appearance and not being to live up to the society’s standard of beauty. A person’s body size and weight has been labeled to be a reflection of his/her lifestyle and health. However, if you observe society’s behavior, you will notice that at least one person has something to say about any kind of body figure— you’re either you’re too thin or too fat. People who are not used to criticism will take this as body shaming. Body shaming can greatly impact your confidence and self-esteem.

You should never take a person’s comment on your body negatively. Instead, you should take it as motivation for improvement. Studies reveal that body shaming doesn’t only affect confidence but also the general health of an individual. Many women who are ashamed of their body also suffer depression and are very prone to infections due to the weakening of the immune system.

Having a very thin or plus sized body is not necessarily shameful, so it shouldn’t prevent you from living a happy life. Thus, instead of sitting on the corner, the best thing for you to do is to rise up and go out. Start an active life by doing physical activities that can help you in gaining or shedding that extra weight. However, exercise will not cure you of body shame. There are things you need to change about way you think first before you can declared that you are free from shame.

Change your mindset

Changing the way you think about your body will help you accept yourself better. Focus on your assets rather than your flaws. Listen to the compliments you get from other people.
