Although considerable advances have been made in the treatment of Hemophilia B over the last twenty years, the hemophilia community needs a more affordable Factor IX product and a non-invasive method of product delivery. As parents of boys with hemophilia and advocates for the community, we had these needs in mind when we created Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. in late 2004.

Inspiration has already developed a proprietary protein manufacturing technology which allows a greater yield of high quality protein at a significantly lower cost than is currently available. We believe the availability of greater quantities of less costly Factor will also lead to wider accessibility to prophylactic treatment. In order to include the entire hemophilia community, we have applied this technology to recombinant Factor VIIA, and intend to produce Factor VIII as well.

What makes the availability of lower cost recombinant factors even more exciting to Inspiration is the possibility of creating new products that will eliminate the need for intravenous infusion. As the bioavailability of Factor is decreased dramatically when administration routes other than intravenous are used, great quantities of lower cost protein will be necessary to make such a product effective and affordable. The creation of an easy, convenient form of delivery will revolutionize treatment of hemophilia.

Chairman of the Inspiration team is John Taylor. As the founder and head of the Coalition for Hemophilia B for the past 16 years, John and his wife Joyce have provided a forum for the Hemophilia B community where information about existing treatment, products, and research efforts are available. The Coalition has initiated and supported research to alleviate the impact of the disease. It is through the Coalition that Scott and Kim Martin, concerned about the future of their newborn son, became involved.

Inspiration’s President and CEO is Dr. Michael Griffith, former Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, where, under his direction, both monoclonally purified and recombinant Factor VIII products were developed. Mike is joined by a world-class management team with experience in bringing hemophilia products to market. Inspiration has already achieved impressive results. Our first product candidate, a more affordable intravenous form of Factor IX, is expected to enter Phase I clinical trials late this summer.

The Inspiration team is excited about the possibilities its research holds for vastly improving the quality of life for people with Hemophilia and their families. We invite you to contact us with your questions, ideas and concerns by visiting our website at www.InspirationBio.com.

We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. We believe an increase in the number of patients treated worldwide and the promise of prophylaxis is on the horizon.
